Autumn will be over soon, which means it's the last chance for the residents of our Flagstaff, Arizona apartments to usher in all of the awesome things this fall season has in store for them. With cool and crisp air around us, here are some ideas for autumn-inspired enjoyment:
1. Take a Road Trip
Set your GPS for chillier temperatures that are meant to make you snuggle up in sweaters and soft blankets. The Rocky Mountains are an easy road trip away, and this time of year, they offer spectacular landscapes as the trees begin to showcase autumn shades.
2. Make Homemade Apple Cider
Certain smells and flavors immediately elicit memories of the months when leaves begin to fall from trees and everybody knows Old Man winter is waiting for his turn to knock on the door. Apple cider is certainly one of those substances, and it's actually not very hard to make at home. With just a few ingredients, you can easily convert your kitchen into a production line that'll fulfill many of your taste buds and your olfactory senses.
3. Have a Fall Dessert Competition
Get ready. Get set. Bake! Baking is a quintessential fall activity. Make delicious pumpkin bread, autumnal biscotti, or a delicious apple cake! Have a fun competition to see which creation you and your friends like the most.
4. Imbibe in a Football Funday
Whether you're a fan of college ball, or you prefer to watch the pros throw the pigskin around, nothing says autumn like a good football game. Go the extra mile by hosting a tailgate party in your living room so you can reunite with friends who will share in the celebration.
Settle into a stunning apartment during the fall season so you can be ready to welcome guests when the holidays roll around. This is the perfect time to swing by our Pine View Village community to take a look at available floor plans!

Autumn's quickly settling in, which means it's officially time for the residents of our Flagstaff, Arizona apartments to say goodbye to summer and usher in all of the awesome things this fall season has in store for them. With cool and crisp air knocking at our doors, here are some ideas for autumn-inspired enjoyment!
Fun Ways to Enjoy Autumn

3. Carve a Pumpkin
Get ready. Get set. Get a creative (and maybe a little messy)! Pumpkin carving is a quintessential post-summer activity. Make a happy face, try to carve an image of your favorite cartoon character, or skip the hard stuff and simply decorate your home with pumpkins and squash. That works, too!
4. Partake in a Football Sunday
Whether you're a fan of college ball, or you prefer to watch the pros throw the pigskin around, nothing says autumn like a good football game. Go the extra mile by hosting a tailgate party in your living room so you can reunite with friends who will share in the celebration.

]]>Photography
Take your selfie skills to a whole new level by learning a few photography tricks to make your pictures pop. Local photography and nature clubs regularly offer classes and opportunities for beginners and pros to improve their skills. You can also take online courses or watch some YouTube videos to learn more about lighting, props or flat lay photography skills for your Instagram feed.
Container Gardening
You do not need to go outside to try your hand at container gardening. Growing herbs that you can use for cooking, creating a cactus garden or arranging indoor plants and flowers on a shelf is easy and inexpensive. All you need are some unique containers found at a flea market or yard sale, indoor potting soil, a sunny window and your favorite plants. Let your creativity take over and before you know it, you will have a green thumb!
Give Old Things New Life
Flea markets and yard sales are also the perfect places to find inexpensive treasures that can be used to decorate your apartment. Old wooden crates make for great shoe racks or extra storage, and a good coat of paint will breathe new life into forgotten furniture. Just strolling around and looking for inspiration is fun and keeps the creative juices flowing.

]]>The post 5 Reasons Why You Should Visit the Grand Canyon This Year appeared first on Pine View Village Apartments Blog.
]]>Natural Beauty
This one may seem like a no-brainer, but the natural beauty of the Grand Canyon can't be emphasized enough. The Grand Canyon also experiences visual changes during certain times of the year. For instance, if you plan your visit for early autumn, it will look significantly different than if you visited during the middle of spring.
Educational Opportunities
Like other national parks, the Grand Canyon offers substantial educational opportunity. You and your family can learn about area wildlife, native vegetation and the unique history of the region.
It's Great Exercise
Visiting the Grand Canyon offers abundant opportunities to get out in the fresh air and get some exercise. You can go hiking, horseback or burro riding, rafting, swimming, or simply go for a leisurely walk if strenuous activities aren't on your agenda.
The Weather is Usually Fabulous
The weather at the Grand Canyon is almost always dry and sunny, so there will be little chance of your vacation being ruined by lousy weather. Even summer rainstorms are brief, leaving the air fresh and clean.
It Makes an Excellent Day Trip
Residents of apartments in Flagstaff, Arizona, can drive to the Grand Canyon in a matter of several hours, making it an ideal road trip for those seeking an excellent experience but are short on time. You can pack a picnic lunch to enjoy when you reach your destination, or you can dine at one of the fine restaurants near the Grand Canyon.
Please feel free to contact us for more information on enjoying life in Northern Arizona.

Summer has officially come to Flagstaff, and it’s the perfect time to enjoy the great outdoors! … But it’s also the perfect time to chillax with a perfect summer binge watching session. Here are five great shows to binge watch while you beat the summer heat!
Bob’s Burgers
Head to Netflix for this burger-based animated family sitcom! Why do we love Bob’s Burgers? Three Words … Regular Sized Rudy. Besides the constant antics of the Belcher kids (which are sure to give you some wild ideas on how to spend your days during the summer), Bob’s Burgers is chop full of amazing characters. Tina Belcher is our spirit animal. Teddy the handyman is relentlessly optimistic. Jimmy Jr.’s dance moves are to die for. And again … Regular Sized Rudy. (Why do they call him that? In his own words: “Just look at me.”)
FRINGE
This Fox phenom ran from 2008 through 2013, but it still has a place in our hearts as a non-stop thrill ride. FBI agent Olivia Dunham enlists the aid of Dr. Walter Bishop, the maddest of all mad scientists, and his jack-of-all-trades son Peter to help investigate a mysterious “Pattern” that threatens the very fabric of the universe. Things get pretty wild within the first few episodes, and it just keeps escalating until the emotionally captivating final season that takes things to a whole new level.
Game of Thrones
If you haven’t been watching this series, it’s time to start. Watch as powerful families engage in the ultimate battle royale in their efforts to rule the Seven Kingdoms. Each season is an action packed emotional roller coaster. Don’t get too attached to your favorite character … as Queen Cersai says, “In the game of thrones, you win or your die” … and there are a LOT of losers. Summer may be here in Flagstaff, but in Westeros … Winter is coming.
LOST
If you think you’ve got it bad (hello, record-breaking summer temps), try enduring a constant summer stuck on a desert island! LOST follows survivors of a plane crash as they try to unravel the mystery of where (and, sometimes, when) they are and how to get home. The stories are captivating, and the mysteries behind the island (Smoke monsters. Secret hatches. Mystery numbers. The Others.) will keep you on the edge of your seat for all six seasons!
24
Available to binge for free with an Amazon Prime membership, 24 is a binge-viewer’s dream come true. Why? Because you can watch an entire season in less than a DAY! Each season is set during a 24-hour day in the life of CTU agent Jack Bauer, and with each episode running slightly less than an hour you can literally watch an entire season in a day. (And, unlike Jack, even take bathroom breaks.) With the series set to come back in a revamped 12-episode series, now is the time to see what all the hype was about with the original.
Happy viewing! Share your favorite shows with us on Facebook or Twitter!

]]>The post 5 Tips for Throwing the Ultimate Dinner Party appeared first on Pine View Village Apartments Blog.
]]>1. Make a self-serve cocktail station.
Even the best hosts have last-minute preparations to attend to, even as guests are already starting to arrive. Mix up a pitcher of ice-cold cocktails and display it on a table. Provide charming cocktail glasses and instruct everyone to help themselves while you finish up in the kitchen.
2. Plan an evening’s worth of music.
Different stages of your ultimate dinner party call for different types of music. Have several playlists ready, depending on whether you want light dinner music or dance music.
3. Have stories and anecdotes on hand.
Even the most interesting dinner parties in a Pine View Village apartment home may have lulls in conversation. Think about some unusual or humorous stories and anecdotes that you can share at the spur of the moment if the need arises.
4. Roll in the desert cart.
Prepare an assortment of some beautiful deserts and place them on a rolling cart. This will allow you to roll in the desert cart and serve all your guests at once, instead of traipsing back and forth from the dining room to the kitchen.
5. Arrange your apartment furniture to accommodate guests.
Your apartment furniture arrangement suits your needs for living, but you may need to temporarily arrange it differently to accommodate guests. Make sure you have enough seating for everyone, plenty of room for standing and mingling and a small area for impromptu dancing.
Now that you have your five tips, all you need is to start (e)mailing out invitations! Contact our office today to find your ultimate floor plan in Pine Valley apartment style!

One way to make yourself feel at home at Pine View Village? Get to know the streets where you live! If there’s any place that we’d call a five-senses city, it’s Flagstaff. There’s so much to see, do, and experience it can be hard to know where to begin. Thankfully, we’re here to help you get to know Flagstaff with all five senses! Check out our suggestions below!
See Flagstaff
One thing Flagstaff natives and visitors enjoy in almost equal measure is the beauty of our four-seasoned landscape! See if for yourself and take in all of Flagstaff’s natural landscape by getting out and about around town. Don’t miss a hike through Walnut Canyon, or the short drives to Wupatki National Monument, Coconino National Forest, or the Grand Canyon. See the stars that make Flagstaff a top-rated dark sky city from the stellar view at Lowell Observatory. Or head down to Heritage Square where there’s always something worth seeing!
Hear Flagstaff
For a night of fantastic music, you can’t skip over the Museum Club, one of Flagstaff’s highest rated stops in Flagstaff. Check out the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra or Flagstaff Playhouse for live theater and musical entertainment. And don’t miss karaoke nights at Granny’s Closet, the Monte V, the Green Room, and other local venues!
Touch Flagstaff
Don’t leave Flagstaff fun up to chance … head to Twin Arrows Casino where your gamble could really pay off! Get some shopping done at the Old Town Shops, or some of Downtown Flagstaff’s favorite shopping outlets: the Flagstaff Soap Company, Crystal Magic, and more are all within easy distance of your home, and well worth the short trip. Head into the green and blue with a boat tour or rafting adventure with Hatch River Expeditions, a Grand Canyon Whitewater tour, or Arizona Raft Adventures. After a long day out, you might need the soothing touch of a calming massage. Flagstaff has you covered with spas like Massage Envy and Diamond Point Spa!
Taste Flagstaff
Want to know one of our favorite things about Flagstaff? So. Much. Food! Head downtown for sushi at Karma, or check out Hiro’s Sushi right across from Safeway and within easy walking, biking, or driving distance of your home! Go Greek at Taverna, or Thai at Dara Thai on San Fran. Looking for some classic favorites? Head to Smashburger or Five Guys for a great burger, Lumberyard for to-die-for mac and cheese, or Brews and Cues for a classic pot pie with a side of sweet potato fries! Get your night cap at Vino Loco or any of a ton of downtown hot spots!
Smell Flagstaff
We’re going back to nature for this one! One of our favorite day trips is up into the Ponderosa pines; people say it makes Flagstaff smell like a vanilla-scented paradise, and we’re not going to disagree. One way to really breathe it all in is with a scenic chairlift ride! This serene, 25-minute ride takes you to the tip-top of Arizona to view all our state has to offer from the heart of Flagstaff! We’re already up pretty high … imagine breathing in the air at over 11,000 feet! It’s a great chance to tempt all your senses, with fresh crisp air, magnificent views, the sweet sounds of nature, and more!

]]>
Happy 239th Anniversary to you, United States Independence! As we join with family and friends in celebrating Independence Day, here are five classic films we’re watching this holiday weekend!
1776
We’re not sure if you should count yourself as lucky or deprived if you weren’t forced to watch this musical every year in elementary and high school. Boy Meets World Feeny-fans will flip over William Daniels as John Adams in this musical that tells the story of the writing of the Declaration of Independence. It might not be the best musical ever—it didn’t garner the kindest reviews at the time of its release—but it’s still a film we can’t wait to pop into our DVD players (or, if you’re keeping it old school, VHS player) every 4th of July!
The Patriot
Oh, hello there, Revolutionary War action! Hello to you, too, Mel Gibson as the father of the year who takes on the entire British army to defend his family. Overlooking the film’s controversial nature—yes, there are historical inaccuracies, and yes, it may be a bit over-the-top in many ways—it’s still among the favorite film depictions of the American Revolution, and considered one of the most engrossing representations of the Revolutionary War ever brought to the silver screen.
Glory
Because Denzel Washington. This Civil War film tells the story of the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry in epic fashion, filled with so much patriotism and heroism it makes our hearts swell just thinking about it. Matthew Broderick plays the leader of the first all African-American unit in the U.S. Army, with Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman, and Andre Braugher each delivering riveting performances from different perspectives of this complex fight for freedom. The score is amazing, the story compelling, and the film as a whole an amazing depiction of a noble fight for freedom. (And also, when Denzel cries, we cry. We dare you not to shed at least one tear.)
Jaws
That’s one bad hat, Harry! Set over the Fourth of July holiday and featuring one of the best delayed-arrivals of an antagonist in film history (you do realize we’re like two-thirds of the way through the movie before we actually see a shark, right?!), JAWS will always be a classic. And when it comes to edge of your seat action, you’re “going to need a bigger boat” to hold all the thrills this film has to offer!
Independence Day
“We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We’re going to live on! We’re going to survive! Today … we celebrate … our Independence Day!” As if we'd leave this film off our list! Jeff Goldblum + Will Smith + telepathic aliens bent on the destruction of mankind = a film that totally set the standard for the summer blockbuster. It’s so classic, AMC is showing it all day on the 4th. So you should, you know … probably watch it at least, like, twice.
BONUS: We couldn’t finish this list without including National Treasure. Not only do they steal the Declaration of Independence in a race against evil, but Nicholas Cage’s performance as what might be the most patriotic dude ever? Fuhgeddaboudit … we love it.

It’s officially heating up outside, and we love no way of beating the heat more than enjoying a day inside at the movie theater! Since we’re part of the Eight Wonders of Flagstaff, we’re here to bring you a look at eight recently released or upcoming films that we know will be some of the top blockbusters of the summer! So grab your favorite popcorn and theater treats and read on!
Jurassic World
Because Chris Pratt + Dinosaurs = Epic Win. If you loved the original film about a failed soft open of a dinosaur theme park, you’ll love seeing John Hammond’s failed dream because a reality. You might tell yourself (like we did) that there’s no way this movie could live up to all the hype. But we’re pretty sure it does. Because life, uh … finds a way. (Hat tip to you, Ian Malcolm!)
Dope
An audience favorite of the Sundance Film Festival, DOPE follows the story of a young nerd named Malcolm surviving and thriving in one of the toughest neighborhoods in LA. We’re excited for this film that New York Magazine/Vulture called “remorselessly entertaining”!
Me and Earl and the Dying Girl
This film will definitely not be your run-of-the-mill coming of age story. The movie stars Thomas Mann as Greg, an awkward high schooler who is forced to spend time with Rachel, a girl in his class who was just diagnosed with cancer. As their friendship grows, he begins to make a film for her to show her support during her struggles, only to learn it’s much harder than he could have imagined. We’ll be taking our tissue boxes to this one.
Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation
Tom Cruise. Explosions. Spy stuff. Dangling from the wings of jets. Need we say more? Spy movies are going to be big this summer (see Spy, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. , etc.), and we have high hopes for this latest film from the film franchise that’s been bringing the hits since 1996. Your mission, should you choose to accept it: Go see this movie!
Mr. Holmes
We’ve got thrills … now let’s go for some mystery! We are SO excited for this film featuring Sir Ian McKellen as an aged Sherlock Holmes. With all the fun we’ve had with Robert Downey, Jr.’s recent films and the BBC series starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Sherlock Holmes is huge right now. But now we get to see a new side: the more vulnerable side. Join us on the edge of our seats as we watch our favorite detective try to solve his greatest mystery: the mystery of lost memory, as he struggles to remember details of a past case to rewrite the history his partner Watson put in print.
Ricki and the Flash
We will watch Meryl Streep in literally anything. But there’s something about seeing her play and aged rock star that makes us REALLY want to see this movie! Streep’s character, Ricki, abandoned her family to pursue her dream of fame, and now has the chance to go back to try to salvage the pieces of her broken family. The release of the film has been delayed quite a few times … but we’re hoping it will be well worth the wait!
Z for Zachariah
If you’re one of the three possible last people on Earth after a global catastrophe, we wouldn’t be opposed to two of them being Chris Pine and Chiwetel Ejiofor … unless, of course, they’re possibly trying to kill each other. We’re looking forward to this intense thriller featuring Margot Robbie as a woman torn between Ejiofor as the first person she’s seen in a long time and Pine as a mysterious stranger who comes between their already precarious relationship.
Inside Out
We’ve heard nothing but rave reviews for this latest film from Pixar. What makes it unique, beyond its premise, is the fact that it’s the first film out of Disney’s Pixar—and possibly the animated Disney universe—to NOT feature a villain. It’s a careful look at how we all—through the lens of Riley, a precocious young girl—deal with emotions that sometimes feel beyond our control. This might be classified as a children’s film, but we’ve found we’re never disappointed by whatever Pixar puts out!
What films are you looking forward to seeing this summer?
