With more than 22,000 students now enrolled at its North Arizona University campus, it’s not surprising that Flagstaff offers a huge variety of eating, entertainment and date-night options. Here, we’ve listed just six of the most popular:
1. Cuvee 928
6 E. Aspen Ave
A locals’ favorite, offering a varied menu and daily specials. Great views of Heritage Square from large windows and the outdoor patio.
2. Brix
413 N. San Francisco St
For a slightly pricier date, this subtly lit converted carriage house provides an intimate ambience in which to enjoy a Mediterranean-style menu.
3. Hotel Monte Vista
100 N. San Francisco St
Said to be haunted by the ghosts of a dancing couple and a bank robber, amongst other uninvited guests, the cocktail lounge was a Prohibition-era speakeasy. Today it offers a fun ambience and live music Wednesday through Saturday.
4. Beaver Street Brewery
11 S. Beaver St
This popular and busy venue has a wide range of pizzas, pasta, pies, meatloaf and more!
5. Pasto
19 E. Aspen Ave
Atmospheric Italian restaurant offering frequent specials and featuring an outdoor patio.
6. Lowell Observatory
1400 Mars Hill Road
For an inexpensive and less conventional date, check out the Lowell Observatory.
Built in 1894, and credited with the 1930 discovery of the planet Pluto, the Observatory offers guided tours by day, while after dark the clear skies of Arizona are perfect for gazing at the stars.

Here at Pine View Village Apartments, we're proud to be part of the Flagstaff community … and that means giving back when and where we can! This month, your Pine View Village crew was proud to give back to the Second Chance Center for Animals with a day of volunteering!
Second Chance has served as a "rescue from the rescues" through a partnership with over 30 organizations across Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah. Their vision of making sure every dog and cat in Northern Arizona has a home has led to the adoption of so many animals into welcoming "fur-ever" homes! Their partnership with the Coconino Humane Association has saved the lives of at-risk animals who may have otherwise faced euthanasia. During our volunteer day, we were able to paint part of their facility and provide doggy (and puppy!) baths!
Second Chance recently made the decision to pull back some of its offerings, but have encouraged volunteers to support the Coconino Humane Association. We've also been happy to partner with Coconino Humane to sponsor some of our favorite resident events: Rent A Puppy!
Looking to adopt a new "fur-ever" friend? Because Second Chance must empty the shelter by May 1st, they are currently waiving adoption fees on ALL homeless animals! Be sure to stop by the Welcome Center to learn about our animal policies before adopting … Then head HERE to learn more about how to bring home your furry friend between now and April 30th!
To learn how you can help animals in Flagstaff, visit the Coconino Humane Association's Volunteer Page! It's just one small way you can help work "meow-icals" and make a "paw-sitive" difference right here in Flagstaff!

]]>Here are four of the top destinations for studying near Flagstaff apartments.
Flagstaff's Top Public Library Is a Great Spot for Student Studying
For students who plan on bringing their own snacks and energy drinks/caffeine, a spacious library will fit the bill nicely. To that end, the Flagstaff City-Coconino County Public Library provides plenty of study desks, PCs and comfortable lounge chairs. These amenities make Flagstaff's top public library a great place for students looking to get out of the apartment when it comes time to study.
Students in Need of Writing Help Should Head to Cline Library
Northern Arizona University's Cline Library employs writing assistants at the university's Writing Commons area. Any Flagstaff residents attending Northern Arizona University would be wise to get help with their academic papers through these helpful university resources.
White Dove Coffee Shop Provides a Tranquil Study Atmosphere
As the name implies, White Dove Coffee Shop is a relaxing Flagstaff coffee shop that doubles as a great place to study. Students get the java jolt needed to cram for the big exam or relax with assigned reading throughout the semester.
The Flagstaff Aquaplex
While the Flagstaff Aquaplex may be best known for its incredible pool and climbing wall, its lounge area also makes for a good place to study. For students looking to study with the home feel of a fireplace and generous lounge area, the Flagstaff Aquaplex is a quality away from home study destination.

]]>Talk to Your Professor
Oftentimes, the syllabus will list books that the professor later doesn’t use or only a small portion of the book is referenced. Check with the professor beforehand to decide if you really need the book. If the information needed consists of only a few chapters, treat a classmate to a cup of coffee in hopes you can borrow their book or check with the school library to see if they have the information.
Use “Occupy the Bookstore”
This free add-on from Google Chrome lets you compare several different sources to find the best prices. After installing, search your university bookstore for the textbook, then Occupy the Bookstore will show you several different online retailers who carry the same book, along with the cost. Many well established stores, like Amazon, are listed so you can trust who you buy from.
Rent or Buy Used
Both have their advantages and either way you will save money by not buying your books new.
• Renting means you agree to borrow the book for a given amount of time and return it back at the end of the semester. The advantages are that renting can come with a significant savings, and if there’s no need for the book in the future you know you won’t be stuck with it later on. The downside is if you can’t trust yourself to get it back by the return date, you will pay a hefty fee.
• Buying used will also offer a sizeable discount. The book may come with notes and highlighted sections, but if you can overlook them it’s a great deal. The advantage to buying used is at the end of the semester you may be able to sell it back to the bookstore and re-coup some of the cost.
Share One Book
If you have a close friend or roommate in the same class, consider sharing one book and splitting the cost. You’ll want to have clear ground rules on the use of the book, like studying for tests. In the end, the money you both save will outweigh the slight inconvenience. When the semester ends, sell the book back and treat each other to lunch and celebrate your resourcefulness.
